But I wanted the Natural Pearl anyway!

Yesterday was a busy busy day.

First we dropped off the Kid at school. Then we went over to the bath showroom and had to pick out a counter top for our new bathroom vanity. We already chose 'natural pearl' but they told us it was discontinued. So we went over so I could check out my second choice again 'peach'. I was so worried that it would be too pink. But it did match the tile perfectly...and the vanity is only 33 inches, so it wouldn't be that much peach in our little bathroom. I agonized there for 20 min and finally said f*ck it. Let's just get the peach. Hours later Hubby calls me and says that peach is discontinued too, but the factory does have a left over piece of the original natural pearl that I wanted. WTF? They couldn't have found that before?! ugh.

Then we headed over to the paint place. We had to pick up paint for the last 2 rooms. Our bedroom and the Kid's bedroom. I am very excited about the Kid's room. He has wanted a construction room for over a year. He has wanted it since we knew we were going to move and he was going to get his own room and could make it anything he wants. He originally wanted black across the room to look like a road. I was a bit skeptical, so last week I thought...why not brown? We can paint the bottom half of the room a nice brown like 'dirt' from a construction site and the top half a very very pale blue - the same blue that the Baby's room is going to be - to make it look like the sky. He liked it! So all the paint is picked. but....

while we were in the paint store the Baby was hungry, so I took him out to the minivan to nurse him. I took him out of the carrier and he was soaked!! I forgot to change his diaper before we left the house. The poor baby had a diaper heavier than him! And guess what? I didn't have a change of clothes! But, I did have the Kid's t-shirt in the car and a small blanket to cover his legs in my diaper bag.
Doesn't he look too cute in his brother's 3T shirt? LOL!

Next stop. Home to change the baby's clothes. We were in and out, then we headed over to my favorite consignment store to get my money from the stroller/infant car seat I dropped off there in August. I made $30! And I promptly spent $13 of it. That place is dangerous.

We then picked up the Kid from school and went to vote. We came home had some lunch and then I headed back out again with the Baby to my 6 week OB visit. This is what I really really wanted to talk about today, but all that other stuff happened that I just had to share. Here is the most important part of my day:

Weight at my 1st pre-natal visit (1/28, 6 weeks) 205 lbs.
Weight the day before I gave birth: (9/22) 225 lbs.
Weight at my 6 week post-natal visit: (11/4) 198 lbs.

I only gained 20 pounds in this pregnancy and I seriously lost 27 pounds since I have given birth!! Granted, 7 of it was pure baby, but still. I am so excited and so motivated right now.
I just got back from walking a local bike path. After I dropped off the Kid at school I walked 2 1/2 miles with the Baby in the stroller for 45 minutes!
Now I have to get my butt in the shower while the Baby is still sleeping in his carrier!

The Morning After

So here is the loot the day after Halloween. That doesn't even count the huge bowl that didn't get taken from the non-existent trick or treaters in our neighborhood. I really need to get my appointment for the dentist now.

Speaking of the dentist, how do you like the Kids new veneers? Oh and in both these pictures, can you tell he won't take his freaking eyes off the tv for me to take the picture?!?!

So, since it was over 70 degrees today and gorgeous. Seriously, I can't believe I was wearing a short sleeve shirt on Nov 1. I took the boys to the bike path and walked a slooooooooow mile and a half. It took over an hour to do it. But aren't they cute?
This was the beginning of the walk.

Daddy wasn't with us, so the Kid didn't have anyone to carry his trike and he was complaining for the last 3/4 of a mile that he little legs hurt. I told him we could turn around anytime, but he insisted we go as far as he and daddy did last week. Luckily we started a half a mile into the trail at a different parking lot so he didn't realize we cut a mile off, thank goodness. Daddy and he did that over two miles in over 2 hours last week. (There are markers on the path that give mile markers. It's the only reason I know how far we went.)

This was my view every time I turned around on the way back to the car. In case you can't tell...he is sticking his tongue out at me because I won't carry his trike...mental note, get the poor kid a two wheeler for Christmas. He was SO slow with those tiny little wheels. I barely was able to get a work out in.

DON'T FORGET TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK TONIGHT!!

I am SO happy for an extra hour of sleep I could scream!

Goals...

I am so proud of myself.
I have been feeling so good.
I have finally kicked this head cold thing and/or allergies that I have had since February.
The weather is finally beautiful. AND I walked two days in a row!

Yesterday I went and walked for 20 whole minutes while the Kid was in school. And then today I met a friend at a nice park that has a path and walked with her for about 30 minutes. Then the kids got to go crazy in the park. It was a blast.

I am going to try really really hard to keep up this momentum and keep walking at least 30 minutes a day at least 5 days a week. I'll spill, I was about 180 when I started my 1st pregnancy and I started out this pregnancy 20 pounds heavier than I did the first time at a whopping 200. And I can't kid myself, that isn't baby weight at all. When the Kid was around 7 months old I started going to the gym and running almost everyday. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months, I got to about 170. And I wasn't even watching what I was eating. But then the warm weather rolled around, I got bored with the monotony of the gym. I kept telling myself I'd go run outside. Then it got hotter and I got lazier. That 30 pounds came creeping back up on me in the last 3 years. Now you know why there have been no belly shots. Maybe when the belly is more tight and looks like I am pregnant and don't just have a huge beer gut, I may take a couple pics...maybe.

I even joined a great running class a couple years ago and started running again, doing a few 5K's and lost a little, not much because I didn't run enough between classes, and I didn't watch what I ate. I did join sparkpeople.com and for about a month around my 30th birthday (Jan. '07) I tracked everything I put into my mouth, and lost 10 lbs in that month. And I wasn't even doing any exercise. Can you imagine what I could look like if I had a little more self-discipline by eating well and exercising? ...well, I know you can't see me, but you know what I mean. Then the tracking of food online got very time consuming. And I stopped. And those 10 lbs came back too. ugh.

After this baby is born, I am going to try weight watchers. I've never done it before. I have never heard of a failure, unless the person let it be a failure. Anyone I know that has actually followed the program and stuck with it has lost weight. I am going to get back into running and I just pray I can stick with it. I know I would do so much better with a partner. I know my friend the Modern Matriarch wants to try out a 5K and I am hoping we can do one together next spring. :) It really is so much better to get out there when you have support.

One of my long term goals...maybe in 2012 or 2013...I would love to do the 1/2 marathon in Disney. There, I said it, it's in writing. Someone needs to email me 5 years from now and ask if I did it. And I hope I can say YES!

Let me know some of your long term goals? Do you have any? Short term? Think about it.
