The Kid had his first day of swim class yesterday. He goes to a good school with a very good reputation and it has been there since 1960 run and owned by the same family. My mom even went there when she was a kid.
Yesterday he was a little nervous and when I dropped him off he was quiet and when I picked him up he had a puss on his face and hugged me like he'd never see me again. And he was stuck to me like glue for the rest of the afternoon. He told me that they 'let me sink'. What I think happened is they were holding him in the pool and they let him go to see if he could touch the bottom. He couldn't. He went under for a second and he didn't like that too much. He was telling me all yesterday and this morning that he wanted to quit. I told him that we do not quit something after one day and that he has to go again. He wasn't happy about it, but he said ok.
Today I dropped him off and he CRIED! Just like he did for the first few days of nursery school last year. The swim teacher had to peel him off me, just like his nursery school teacher did. And he LOVED going to nursery school after a while. I felt SO bad and I couldn't stop thinking of him the whole 3 hours he was there. But I wouldn't back down. Hubby is a push over. If it were up to him the Kid wouldn't have even went back today. And if he was there to drop the Kid off he never would have left him crying. But you guys (as moms) know that you can not be manipulated by the kids! Head up. Walk away. And the Kid had a great time today.
So I went to pick him up and he finally had a smile on his face. He told me that he had his face in the water and was kicking at the same time! He was very excited about that. And he told his teacher that he'd see her tomorrow.
So far so good! On Saturday we can go and see the progress and then he has another week to go. I'll post some pictures of class then.

Baby Contest
A friend of mine is this close --> <-- to having her 1st son. She already has a daughter and gets to be one of those moms that has one of each...I may never know what that is like! hahahahaha
AndreAnna is having a contest over on her blog to guess the date and weight of her baby for a kick ass prize....unless you live under a rock and don't like Target or Barnes & Noble...in which case, I don't know you. (just kidding)
Seriously, go on over there and comment away and try to win her fun baby pool! And if you post her contest on YOUR blog...the prize gets bigger! oohhhhh ahhhhhhh!
I just may have to steal the idea and do one for myself in September!! Hopefully that will get a few of my lurker friends that I have in real life that have NEVER commented before (you know who you are) out of hiding and join in on the baby guessing game!

I loves me some new stuff...
I just placed an order for these. I am so excited!! How sad that I am more excited about a washer and dryer than how I used to get excited about a new pair of shoes?!?! I guess it's growing up.
The washer and dryer we have now in my grandmother's house are somewhere around 15-20 years old!! And when the dryer goes it makes the electric meter outside spin faster than the TWO window air conditioner units and all the fans on, etc. And sometimes it takes 2 cycles to dry heavier stuff, like jeans and my Hubby's lined khaki pants from Cabela's. And the washer drum squeaks so bad I have to shut the door if I am in the kitchen. Our electric bills have been through the roof, but that will all change in up to 20 business days....oh why make me wait so long for my beautiful front loaders?? Because it is the cheapest I have seen them ANYWHERE with the pedestals. We really didn't have much say on the size of them. The space that we have for a washer and dryer is limited due to the cabinets above so the smaller Sport it is.
This is just added to the gorgeous stove and dishwasher that we replaced as soon as we moved in. AND we brought our fridge that we had from our old house, that we bought new only about 4 years ago. That was NOT included in the sale of our house. That made all the stuff in the kitchen the same color, black. I am swimming in nice new appliances around here...oh and a little bit of debt. But it just had to be done. Gotta love interest free for a year!!
I'm doing a little happy dance ...now maybe I will enjoy a little laundry. Well, maybe not. That's pushing it. Maybe it won't be as much of a chore....maybe.

Sharing the Love *UPDATE*
This is what keeps me busy off and on throughout the day. I have quite a few mommy blogs that I read everyday. They are not all on the side of my page since I have been too lazy to add them, since I have aol and they are right there on 'my favorites' and easier to get to. I would like to share them with you. Each and every one (even if they are already on the side of my page.)
In no particular order:
Diary of a Modern Matriarch <- the one who inspired me to start my own blog. Has a young daughter and a son on the way. So excited for her! I know her in real life. :)
Cass. Just Curious <- so close to having her 1st child! SO excited for her too!
My Little Corner of Life <- a mom of 1, and is so funny!
Burgh Baby <- mom of 1 & SO funny!! And has been on her local news for blogging!
Anglophile Football Fanatic <- Is all into contests this month for her blogaversary. Mom of 1 boy and cracks me up!
Playgroups are No Place for Children <- has 2 cute kids, and occasionally has blog tips! Also cracks me up!
Swistle <- has 5 kids and still finds humor in everything *update* I miss-counted the kids the first time!
Canadian Thoughts in Texas <- our lives are so far apart, yet SO alike it's scary! Her kid looks like my Kid and we are both pregnant with another BOY! Plus many other uncanny similarities.
A Virgo's Point of View <- another Jersey Girl and mom of 2 kids
Chop. Stir. Mix. <- yummy fun recipes
Running for Two (aka. Baby Steps) <- been a lurker here. If you ever want to feel lazy, er inspired, read her archives. She is a running machine!
The House of Misfits <- has a blog of everyday stuff, kinda like mine
Boobs, Injuries, & Dr. Pepper <- been a lurker here for a while. Read her Crazy Chronicles. She is just an amazing and strong woman. I am hoping she writes a book one day.
Law School Sucks - and So Do Lawyers <- makes me laugh every time she posts. And her Sumo baby is aDORable. Has a hubby in Iraq and doing it ALL on her own. GO Tranny!
CPA Mom <- met with ICM (below) last week! 2 adorable kids.
Ice Cream Mama <- lives 15 min from me!! :) Know in real life and I graduated HS with her younger brother, yet we never knew each other until we stumbled on each other's blog...I forget who found who first...
**UPDATE** I totally forgot to add my friend from college! Mary Ellen's Cooking Creations She cooks much more fancy (I know not really a sentance) than I ever would and drinks and reviews really fancy wines that I would probably never drink, but she does a great site, if you love fancy food and good wine. She'll post about once a week. She is the only non-mommy (yet) that I read.
I do read you guys every.day. I don't always leave comments, but I am there.
Why oh why are we all so fascinated with the lives of other mom's that we have never met? (I have met only 4 mom's in real life on the above list.) There is an undeniable draw to reading about other people doing the same things you do, having the same fights with their kids, trying to get it all right, and even getting some advice along the way from mom's all over the place. I guess that is why I have become a blogging addict. I started because I felt bad that I was reading all these other blogs and reading about their lives and they knew nothing about me. It just seemed so unfair and one sided. And I wanted everyone to know just how cool (yet occasionally bratty) my Kid can be too!! Every mom likes to brag, right?
Then as I have gotten into it, I realized that this is just a daily (or as often as I can write) journal for me to look back on in future years to remind me of the 'good old days' when the kids were small.
Here's to all the tons and tons of other mommy bloggers going through the same thing, yet some thousands of miles away. *cheers*

Missing the Fireworks
So we missed the fireworks 2 nights in a row. Both nights the Kid was passed out by 8. The beach did him in on Thurs, but yesterday, no clue. We really did nothing all day. He played outside for a bit, but we had a little rain off and on so it was mostly a bum around the house day. He was watching his 7:30pm Diego and I was planning on going over to the beach around 8:30, all of a sudden he got up turned OFF the TV and came in the kitchen and told me he was tired and wanted to go to bed! Wha? Huh? Haven't we done this before?
Fortunately, I could hear the fireworks (again) from my house around 9:30 and halfway through it started pouring over here. They kept the fireworks going, but luckily we were nice and dry at home and not getting soaked on the beach. That would not have been worth it.
They have fireworks once a week all summer, so we will try on another day when the Kid actually takes a NAP! Which I totally tried to get him to nap, but it was nothin' doin'. He has swim class for the next 2 weeks every day. He gets out at 4, so if he is exhausted and passes out in the car on the way home and naps we will try again. Hopefully he won't pass out everyday and then we are stuck with him until 10! hahahaa

When Blog Girls Meet
So, I had a little blogger meet up with a couple other bloggers this week. On Tuesday I met up with CPA Mom and Ice Cream Mama! It was such fun. We had 5 kids there under the age of 5. The kids got along really well. They were bossing each other around within minutes! hahaha! We were at ICM's house and they played on the swing set and then we went to Rita's Ice and got some yummy ices. The Kid never had ice before, so he wanted to try the chocolate one. The girl let him have a spoon of it and he said he loved it. But, when he got his cup he had 2 bites and wouldn't eat anymore. Then he got super cranky. WTF? I had the raspberry lemonade and it was awesome. I think I just found my new summer treat for the rest of this pregnancy.
As for the meet up. As we were sitting around ICM's kitchen table it felt like we have known each other for years! Which is crazy since none of us knew each other existed just a few months ago. But I was totally comfortable and we were laughing and sharing birth stories...well, except for the fact that CPM Mom's husband was there too it was like a real mommy playdate! ICM happens to also have grown up in my same hometown and I graduated HS with her brother and my husband used to hang out with one of her other brothers. How's that for a small world? So odds are we will hang out again soon. I hope! ;) CPA Mom came up from the South on a family vacation and stopped by on their way to Great Adventure. It was a wonderful time. I loved meeting you guys and it really was just too quick.
Yesterday and today the Kid and I went to the beach. heehee. Today we went late in the afternoon and brought my MIL and SIL. It was SO windy and cool down there. It was unbelievable. I am a mile from the beach and at my house it wasn't windy at all and it was HOT! So weird.
We were going to try to see the fireworks tonight, but the Kid was so exhausted that he passed out around 8. There was no way fireworks were happening tonight. Hopefully he will make it tomorrow.
Hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July!!

Beach Wednesday
My step-mom and I had a thing last year when we were going to try to get to the beach together every Wed. She is a realtor, so she would try to not schedule appointments in the afternoon.
We got to go twice together.
This year we are going to try again. But last week didn't work out and this week already isn't looking good. But I am making every Wed on my blog a shot from the beach, even if I didn't get to go that day.
Here is a shot of them on the beach one one of our 2 beach days last year. That's my dad and grandfather with the Kid. 4 generations playing in the sand. Of course, I wasn't in the picture I was taking it. :)

And here is my step-mom with the Kid on the other beach day last year. This was when her brother, his wife and their son was visiting from Colorado.

And this is the view I had from my chair last week. Reading my new fave James Patterson book "Sail", The Kid playing in the sand and a beautiful beach day.
